ARTHROLOGIC, INC.
Arthrologic was founded by Rene Catan, MD, MBAH in July of 2013. The company is anchored on the “2 piece Total Knee Replacement” (2TKR) medical device that Dr. Catan has successfully innovated. The innovative design by itself is a story to tell as Dr. Catan realized that the same precision machines that manufacture guns and gun parts are also the same technology that can produce his 2TKR prototype. He then contracted a foundry company in Cebu, a well-known area for gun manufacturing. The result is the first ever non-modular 2 piece TKR system in Asia.
Arthrologic was one of the ten (10) start-up companies that gained an immediate “angel investment” from IdeaSpace (leading incubator entity in the Philippines). After only one presentation, IdeaSpace quickly realized the social and commercial value of the Arthrologic –2TKR concept. To date, Arthrologic has performed and documented Sixty (60) procedures using the “Arthrologic 2TKR System.
In the 25 years of Dr. Catan’s medical practice, he was a witness to the sad plight of patients requiring TKR but the affordability of such a solution was way above what the majority of patients can afford. The idea to simplify and lower the cost of TKR kit was what had inspired Dr. Catan in developing the “Arthrologic 2 piece TKR System”.
